Can you charge an electric toothbrush in a shaver socket?

can you charge an electric toothbrush in a shaver socket

I used to think that charging my electric toothbrush in the shaver socket would be a breeze- until I actually did it and my socket actually burned out.

[Wonder why that happened? Keep on reading to find out!]

Well, as it so happened, the socket actually wasn’t supposed to continuously provide power for a long period of time- and after a certain point, it just plain overheated.

So, the short answer is, No, you shouldn’t try to do that with sockets meant solely for shavers.

However, that’s not all that there is to it. Naturally, some people have already thought of a solution to this problem, and we are going to take a look at that in today’s article.

[If you want to know more about it, please make sure that you read today’s article till the very end!]

You know what’s one of the models I really recommend? The Oral-B Pro 7000 Electric Toothbrush! See this post for more info.

Why can you (not) charge an electric toothbrush in a regular shaver socket?

Well, as I just remarked, it isn’t a really great idea to charge a toothbrush in a regular shaver socket. This is mostly because of the fact that shaving doesn’t really take you nearly as long as charging your phone and these sockets are designed accordingly.

Putting them to work for too long overheats them and they may actually burn out. Which is sort of what happened to me when I charged my electric toothbrush in a shaver socket.

So, all in all, it seems like the best idea to not go ahead and try to charge your toothbrush in a regular shaver socket.

There’s one solution that you might like

Honestly, there really aren’t too many solutions to this problem except to just charge your electric toothbrush elsewhere. However, there is one solution that is really remarkable and worth mentioning.

Some shaver sockets are specially designed for this purpose. These can be used to charge your toothbrush and are prepared to be used for a prolonged period of time- after all the Oral-B Pro 3000 can take up to 22 hours to charge! (Click here to check out our review of the Oral-B Pro 3000 model)

What role does the red light play?

Now, you might have heard about the red light when it comes to the oral B electric toothbrushes. This red light is actually the most important thing out there to know when your toothbrush battery is about to run out.

This red light is actually a low battery indicator that turns on when your have one or two brushes worth of battery left. This means that it is really important to put the electric toothbrush on charge now.

Wondering about the exact details of this feature? Well, Tooth Advocates has already prepared an entire article for you on this to help you out with this- click here to read it!

Can you use your electric toothbrush in the shower?

So, have you ever tried using your electric toothbrush while showering? I used to do it all along until one day my friend came along and told me that it’s not really a good way if I want to keep my toothbrush in a good condition.

So, I did my research and found out that it really wasn’t that bad for my toothbrush after all. But I also figured out that this is one of those issues where everyone might not be entirely aware about the pros and cons.

So, Tooth Advocates has prepared an article on it that takes a look at all the positive and negative aspects of using your electric toothbrush in the shower, as well as all the precautions that you should ideally take- click here to check it out!
